What We Do
BCCA helps land managers, industry and community improve sustainable catchment health for the Burnett, Kolan, Isis, Gregory, Elliott, Burrum and Baffle catchments.
Funding
BCCA brokers and administers funding for onground projects, workshops and events that assist Burnett region landholders and community groups improve sustainable land management. To find out what funding is currently available check out our Current Programs.

Community Groups
BCCA partners with Landcare, Producer, Local Government and other Community Groups to improve agriculture and catchment health. For current opportunities check out Work With Us and Current Programs.
Landholders
BCCA works with landholders in the Burnett, Kolan, Isis, Gregory, Elliott, Burrum and Baffle catchment areas to improve sustainable agriculture.
We provide funding for onground projects, assistance with weeds and pests, property mapping , field days and workshops to assist landholders make agriculture more sustainable.

Programs
Important information about funding, support and education currently available.
The project aims to offer practical assistance and outreach efforts aimed at empowering primary producers to improve land management practices including property management planning,
regenerative agriculture practices and erosion remediation methods.
This project is funded by Queensland Government’s Natural Resources Recovery Program.
This project aims to build and enhance the natural disaster resilience of agricultural South Burnett regional communities. A skilled and experienced agricultural Community Resilience Officer (CRO) will assist agri-businesses to examine their operations and determine ways to mitigate the impact of natural disasters/flooding events.
Assistance provided by the Queensland Government and Australian Government under The Queensland Resilience and Risk Reduction Fund
This project will enhance the riparian health of the Burnett Brigalow Belt area in the Boyne Catchment by preventing livestock access, promoting native vegetation growth and stabilising riverbanks for landholders who expressed interest in our program.
This project has received funding support from the Queensland Government’s Community Sustainability Action grant program.

BCCA are contracted through The State of Queensland as represented by the Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation (DSITI), for the ongoing monitoring of water quality at the Burnett River at Mount Lawless. Mount Lawless is one of the 43 sites involved in the Great Barrier Reef Catchment Loads Monitoring Program.

Katie Muller
Chief Executive Officer
Based in Monto, Katie has been with the Association since 2007, rising through the organisation from Project Officer and Programs Manager to General Manager and now CEO.
Katie oversees the overall, day-to-day operation of the organisation including contract management and reporting as well as assisting in the field with Sustainable Agriculture programs.
She, her husband and four children run a cropping, hay and grazing enterprise in the Moonford area.
Katie has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science which has helped foster her strong interest in identifying and enhancing the capacity of people in agriculture within our rural communities.

Melinda Clarke
Administration Manager/ GIS Officer
Melinda is based in the Monto office and has been a valued member of the team since 2011. She lives on a small grazing property with her family, in the Kapaldo area.
Melinda has a Bachelor of Applied Science, majoring in Biotechnology and previously worked in pathology, in both the Haematology and Immunology departments.
Melinda provides extensive administrative and organisational support on all BCCA projects. In addition, Melinda serves on the BCCA executive as Secretary and Treasurer for the Association.
Melinda also works as a GIS Officer, supporting the spatial analysis and mapping needs of BCCA projects.

Marisa Young
Extension Officer
Marisa is based in Mundubbera and has been a member of team since 2013. She has a background in environmental planning and natural resource management with a degree in Environmental Science, majoring in Ecology, Social Policy and Development and Environmental Planning.
She, her husband and family run a beef cattle grazing property south of Mundubbera.
Marisa has overseen numerous projects for the organisation including Floodplain Management Recovery projects, Better Catchments, Natural Resources Improvement Programs and Reef Alliance – Burnett Grazing projects.

Misty Neilson
Ecologist/Research & Funding Officer
Misty is an Ecologist and an Accounting for Nature Accredited Expert with experience in environmental monitoring of flora, fauna and freshwater ecosystems.
She is an affiliate of the CQUniversity Research Cluster and a Non-executive Board Director for ‘Forever Wild’ and approved Carbon farming advisor. Misty has worked with QLD and NSW based universities on various environmental research projects and is a CASA licensed drone pilot.

Wendy Thorsborne
Community Resilience Officer
Wendy and her husband own and operate a grazing property “TwoSwans” in the Glenrock district of the South Burnett. She has a keen interest in all things agriculture, biosecurity and advocating for rural and regional Queensland.
Wendy joined the BCCA team to develop partnerships and deliver projects in the South Burnett, specifically building the capacity of agricultural communities impacted by natural disasters and droughts.
Wendy has worked in various geographical locations and industries throughout rural New South Wales and Queensland.She has a wealth of knowledge about the Burnett Inland and has successfully delivered projects in the Burnett Inland for BIEDO, Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG), Blue Wren Connections, Red Earth Community Foundation and Vision Leaders.

Ann McKenzie
Community Resilience Officer
Ann is based at Murgon and lives on a grazing property run with her husband and children, near Goomeri. As an extension officer she has worked in the sugarcane industry, in land protection (weed and pest management), natural resource management based out of Charters Towers and most recently in the Inland Burnett with a focus on grazing land management, supporting farmers with information and providing them with linkages.
