BCCA is encouraging producers to apply for funding through the recently announced Smart Farms program. The Program is part of the $1.08B National Landcare Program (NLP) that will run over the next six years.
The NLP is the Australian Government’s natural resource management program to protect and conserve Australia’s soil, water, plants, animals and ecosystems while supporting productive and sustainable use of these valuable resources.
The Smart Farm Small Grants initiative is for developing and extending new tools, methods and technologies that achieve these outcomes.
Eligible activities need to deliver benefits to the wider community & may include
- improving soil biology and structure for improved soil health and increased production
- maintaining good ground cover to reduce soil and nutrient losses from erosion
- activities that increase the knowledge and capacity of land managers to better manage soil and vegetation
- demonstrations, pilots and trials to adapt soil and vegetation management practices and systems for regional conditions.
Individual landholders and groups are able to apply directly for grants of between $5000 and $100 000.
Be quick – applications are open now and close December 7. If you are interested in applying, be sure to check the program Smart Farms Small Grants guidelines and supporting information on the following website http://www.nrm.gov.au/national-landcare-program.
