In late February, 22 people from grazing businesses in the South Burnett region attended BCCA’s workshops “Introductory Excel Spreadsheets for Grazing Enterprises” at Tansey and Wondai. These workshops were part of the BCCA project “Building Resilience in the Agricultural South Burnett” and run by Rhonda Toms Morgan from Connect Ag.
Participants enjoyed the opportunity for face-to-face learning and getting personalised help. They shared how they plan to use their new Excel skills:
Organising and Managing Data
- Update contact lists and make tax invoices.
- Use new apps like Xero and Agwell to handle cattle records better.
- Turn invoices into PDFs and sort out PIC (NLIS) tags.
Efficiency and Time-Saving
- Use Excel to save time and make tasks easier.
- Make cashflow budgeting and financial planning simpler with formulas.
- Create easy-to-manage spreadsheets for different tasks.
Application of Tools and Resources
- Use Excel templates and resources for practical tasks.
- Improve record-keeping and data management.
- Combine new apps and tools with business processes for better efficiency.
Participants also suggested having more workshops, including intermediate sessions and refresher courses, to keep building their Excel skills.
