BCCA engaged with primary producers in the North Burnett to build disaster resilience and recovery of their business enterprise and ultimately the North Burnett region.
BCCA attended local shows in the North Burnett region and local cattle sales where we supplied resources on soils mapping, grants available and plenty of resources on weed and pasture ID, erosion, landtypes and pasture management.
Four capacity building workshops were held including:
- Surveying Contour Banks field day at Mulgildie with Soil Conservation Officer John Day with 12 farmers in attendance.
- Two Control & Management of Weeds in Cropping at Mundubbera & Mungungo with 23 attendees in total.
- Queensland Globe workshop at Coulstoun Lakes with five farmers. Queensland Globe is a valuable these tools are in helping landholders make informed management decisions about their properties.
This project was able to engage with over 120 producers from across the North Burnett at various events, shows, field days, workshops and one-on-one support opportunities.
The project showed producers appetite for one-on-one support for the development of property management plans and training and capacity building through hands on workshop and information sessions is very strong.
