Despite the threat of the biggest storm days seen for a number of years across Central & Southeast Queensland, from severe and dangerous storm outbreaks to !!๐—ง๐—ข๐—ฅ๐—ก๐—”๐——๐—ข๐—˜๐—ฆ!! forecast, Burnett Catchment Care Association executive and members braved the predicted weather conditions to celebrate our 30-year anniversary in Mundubbera on Saturday.

We gathered at The Royal Hotel, Mundubbera, to mark three decades since BCCA became an incorporated, member-based, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to delivering natural resource management projects across the Burnett Catchment.

Many thanks to our guest speaker, ๐— ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฒ ๐—Ÿ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฟ who spoke on the progression, growth and adaptation of their beef producing enterprise โ€“ Leather Cattle Co. (LCC), a family owned and operated beef cattle business with properties located at three locations in Central Queensland. LCC are always adapting, changing and evolving their enterprise to current climates and markets with data driven decisions.

Melinee emphasised that one of their key drivers to producing a quality, sustainable product is to help address the global issue of โ€œHidden hungerโ€ which impacts over two billion people. โ€œHidden hungerโ€ is associated with adequate calorie intake but a deficiency of essential nutrients vitamins and minerals. Melinee believes sustainably produced high-quality beef is essential in addressing this malnutrition and providing a solution to this global issue.

Thank you to those members who attended the celebration and we look forward to seeing you out in the Burnett region โ€“ attending workshops, field days, meetings and working towards improving management of your patch of the Burnett to support the health of our catchment.
