In May, BCCA hosted renowned grazing expert Dick Richardson of Nature’s Equity for two informative workshops in the Burnett region—one held on Beeron Road, Mundubbera, and the other at Cloyna near Murgon. A total of 52 graziers attended the sessions to learn about the “Grazing Naturally” approach to regenerative land management.

Dick’s engaging and energetic presentation style captured the attention of all who attended as he unpacked the core principles of effective grazing management. Topics included understanding plant-soil relationships, using livestock movement to stimulate pasture growth, building soil depth and carbon levels, and the importance of incorporating rest periods into grazing systems. He also introduced a simple forage assessment method to help graziers accurately align stocking rates with available feed.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. One attendee described it as “the best workshop I have ever been to”, while another reflected that it “challenged what they had previously been taught”—highlighting the impact and value of the information shared.

These events were made possible with support from the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Queensland Resilience and Risk Reduction Fund, and through the Queensland Government’s Natural Resources Recovery Program. BCCA is proud to bring quality learning opportunities like this to local landholders, helping to build more resilient and productive grazing systems across our region.
