          • 1,000 people involved
          • 27 schools provided with teacher assistance, training, resource material, use of monitoring equipment and school excursions

          • Waterwatch video of school presentations
          • Free water quality testing at 11 field days and local shows.
          • Waterwatch office and resources

BCCA, in partnership with the Wondai Shire Council, opened a Waterwatch office to display resource material, maps and monitoring equipment, and to provide a venue for water quality monitoring training.

The South Burnett Waterwatch Coordinator developed, maintained and entered data into a Waterwatch monitoring database from all 23 monitoring sites in the South Burnett. This data was also provided to the National Waterwatch database.

The coordinator and BCCA provided advice and assistance to community members on monitoring techniques and water quality issues in urban and rural areas of the South Burnett.

The program provided alerts to the community, local government and state government agencies of significant water quality changes in the natural environment through the local media, public meetings and reporting to authorities. In addition, the coordinator engaged with the community to promote water quality issues with water monitoring information displays at local shows and field days.
