Project purpose: The project aimed to develop Property Management Plans (PMP’s) with Inland Burnett graziers to increase landholder capacity and skill development via the open access online mapping tool – Queensland Globe

Key achievements:

          • 3 Queensland Globe workshops with 41 participants
          • Property Management Plans developed with 20 producers
          • 3 “how to” videos developed
          • Step by step guide and a quick reference guide developed

Property management planning is essential for graziers to better manage their land and their business and is considered Best Management Practice (BMP). A crucial component of planning is the ability to comprehensively map and monitor infrastructure and resources and the ability to access up-to-date information to keep plans relevant and informative.

This project aimed to develop Property Management Plans (PMP’s) with Inland Burnett graziers to increase landholder capacity and skill development via the open access online mapping tool – Queensland Globe.

To improve the knowledge, skill and capacity of graziers to open access online mapping tool Queensland Globe, BCCA ran three one-day Queensland Globe training workshops in North, South and Central Burnett regions (Monto, Kingaroy and Mundubbera) with 41 participants. These workshops were interactive days where landholders brought their own laptops and devices and were encouraged to begin their property maps and plans.

From there, graziers were provided with one-on-one support to further develop their Property Management Plans using Queensland Globe. This one-on-one support was essential in building the skills of the graziers in the development of their plans.

We also developed a number of excellent tools to facilitate the continued improvement of their skills:

  • How to videos on how to do the most common tasks on Queensland Globe including mapping paddocks, finding property boundaries and downloading reports –  found in the Resources section below

  • An open offer of continued support to our participants for BCCA to provide follow-up support to continue to increase their skills and ensure their continued use of these planning tools.
