SUMMARY:Against the Grain - Bus Tour for Croppers
DESCRIPTION:The Burnett Mary Regional Group is running a two-day bus trip for farmers and people working in agriculture 12-14 March to visit cropping trials\, research sites and innovative farmers in the South Burnett and Darling Downs. \nThe Against the Grain Bus Tour features presentations from researchers of the National Engineering for Agriculture Centre (University of Southern Queensland)\, agronomists of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (QDAF)\, agronomist and agricultural extension expert David Hall\, and farmers on the Darling Downs. \nTopics at field visits will include: \n\nPrecision agriculture in practice – one growers perspective on the practicalities of applying precision agriculture technology on farm\nSmart technology for irrigation efficiencies – reducing water use and improving production – the future of farming with the use of smart technology\nDeep placement – Phosphorous and Potassium – getting the most of your fertiliser for improved production\nDecision making systems for reduced tillage practices and more soil carbon – soil testing and other in-field options \n\nAgainst the Grain will also include attendance at a one day Precision Ag Field Day in Jimbour\, featuring drone demonstrations by Andrew Bate – cropper and creator of SwarmFarm Robotics\, and other various farm technologies.  Against the Grain Bus Tour will depart from Bundaberg from Buss Park on Sunday 12 March\, returning on Tuesday afternoon (14 March). It includes two nights accommodation at the Bunya Mountains and Jondaryan Woolshed\, all meals\, transport\, and take home resources.
