Starting out as a small ‘Mum & Dad’ operation\, they are now an internationally renowned stud selling over 900 bulls per year. \nKit authors the famous Herd Quitter blog\, which has over 26\,000 active subscribers. Herd Quitter is a term coined to refer to those people who have the courage to break away from the status quo\, herd mentality way of thinking. Early in Kit’s cattle business life\, he discovered that increasing production wasn’t nearly as important as increasing profits AND there was very little correlation between production and profit. In order to become more profitable\, he and Deanna had to become ‘herd quitters’. \nKit’s philosophies and genetics have been proven to increase profit per acre in nearly all environments and have helped producers around the world find the competitive advantage. \nTopics Kit will cover include: \n\nManaging your grass\nCalving in sync with nature\nSelecting animals for profitability\n\nKit visited Australia in 2015 where he spoke at a sell-out event at Rockhampton’s Beef Week. \n\nTerry McCosker: Impact Investing – Opportunities for Regenerative Agriculture\nAs a nationally renowned innovator\, speaker and educator in regenerative agriculture\, Terry McCosker needs little introduction. He has had an inordinate impact on agricultural practices both in Australia and around the world over many years. Terry co-founded RCS over 30 years ago\, setting the benchmark for capacity building in rural and regional Australia. His pioneering ways continue to pave in-roads to a more profitable future for food and fibre producers across the country. \nTerry will speak on the relatively new concept of impact investing (funds invested with the intention to generate a measurable\, beneficial social or environmental impact alongside a financial return)\, its fit with regenerative agriculture and how producers can best position their business to take advantage of the opportunities it will present. \n\nDavid McLean: Hard Business Decisions Made Easier\nRCS Chairman David McLean is a highly sought-after educator\, advisor and public speaker with a refreshing combination of hands-on experience and technical knowledge. David’s extensive experience in\, and passion for agricultural business analysis and management have seen him work in an advisory capacity with some of the country’s top beef and sheep producers. \nDuring this seminar\, David will show how to make decisions with confidence by identifying and eliminating factors which are often the undoing of many businesses. \n\nTickets available through EventBrite. Click ‘Book Tickets’ to be taken to the booking page. \nFor further enquiry\, please call RCS on 1800 356 004.

SUMMARY:Low Stress Stockhandling School - Gatton
DESCRIPTION:The LSS Stockhandling School is relevant to all livestock production industries and the people who work within them. Past participants have varied in age from 4 to 73 with skill levels ranging from very experienced and competent stock people through to total beginners. All you need is a willingness to learn. \nThe Basic Animal Instincts and the Principles of Low Stress Stockhandling are universal. They have been observed and put into a framework that makes them easy to learn and they form the basis of the Stockhandling School content. \nMethods relating to the Principles are taught through a combination of direct teaching and practical situations that allow each participant the opportunity to work livestock both inside and outside the yard. We pride ourselves on providing an atmosphere that encourages each person to feel comfortable to participate and learn through practise. Emphasis is placed on developing a sound understanding of the key information through experience and the majority of the school time is for this. \nAs a participant at an LSS Stockhandling School you will learn how your attitude can affect the outcomes from your stock. Imagine the feeling of ending each livestock working session feeling calm and satisfied with stress free animals! \nTime is allocated to deal with specific issues and areas of interest relevant to the participants and their industries. Topics covered include\, imprinting young animals\, the weaning process and de-stressing. Our goal is that you leave the school with a broader knowledge and understanding of stockhandling which will help you make informed decisions to achieve maximum cost effective production gains with low stress livestock what ever your situation may be. \nTrainer: Chook Kealy Phone: 0428 418 795  Email: Chook.kealey@gmail.com \nVenue: The University of Queensland Dairy\, Gatton QLD \nFor more information and to register for this school please visit lss.net.au
