DESCRIPTION:Grazing land management (GLM) EDGE is a three-day workshop to give you a thorough understanding of the grazing land environment in which you operate – it will provide you with knowledge to strategically manage your grazing business so you can optimise your land condition and productivity in the long-term. \nAttending this workshop will help you to:\n• understand how your land types influence productivity\n• recognise the dominant land types in your region and on your property\n• critically assess different grazing systems\n• understand how soil properties influence plant growth\n• understand soil health and the factors that impact on it\n• know what land condition is\, how it’s assessed\, and how to manage livestock to maintain or achieve good condition\n• understand the role of fire in your country\n• understand the role of sown pastures in grazing and legumes\, including the management of pasture rundown and pasture dieback\n• understand the principles and planning steps for successfully managing weeds. \nWhat you will learn:\n• selective grazing\, its function\, and how to reduce impacts\n• how to identify key plant species\n• the ecosystem processes that underpin productivity\n• basic principles of effective grazing systems\n• how to assess long term carrying capacity of paddocks and properties\n• forage budgeting to manage variation in pasture on offer\n• how to choose appropriate tools and strategies to improve land condition and carrying capacities\n• methods of reclaiming severely degraded grazing land. \nBook here!! \n*As part of the ‘Sustainable Landscapes across the Inland Burnett’ project\, BCCA is offering an added incentive to support primary producers in the project area to build their skills and resilience. This assistance is provided by the Queensland Government’s Natural Resources Recovery Program. The first 10 primary producers from the Inland Burnett to complete this Grazing Land Management EDGE workshop will receive an additional $500 reimbursement from BCCA.
